Food bank

Our food bank continues to serve as many guests as ever. Coordinator Carol Ralph had this reflection to share.

One Wednesday, soon after the Sikes' went on sabbatical, and Elizabeth and Mary were helping with the Food Bank, we had a flashback event that reminded me of Ken. Over the years Ken has helped us work hard to help some of our neighbors with mental illness spending hours on the phone trying to access housing and services. This day, one of our regulars showed up in crisis. Mary and Elizabeth spent the next few hours counseling with her and trying to secure some help.

This reminded me that “the beat goes on.” The
transition of leadership was flawless and our friends and neighbors who rely on us for help found the same loving caring atmosphere at the Food Bank that they had come to expect.
